"I remember I had a wish once. A simple wish to be something that could unite others for a common good. Yet as I know the hypocrisy of that path and have walked my own path instead. I have sinned past what my kin would be proud of but for it all? Once I am done with you I can at least return home."

the soul.

the personality     The Hero that never was. This Dark-clad Elezen had tried to step into the world as the Hero, as he had spent his childhood healing. His bright-eyed demeanor quickly dashed and mangled on initial contact. Still, despite the setbacks, he continued to walk again and again until he stood at the edge of what he swore to fight, wondering if he was the real monster. Almost appearing cold at times, the Elezen is capable of compassion, though it's not always the easiest to show it. He grapples with his actions of being unfettered and being denied the one thing sought with the war over.

Walking from battlefield to battlefield, his lance in hand, he contracted to the Twin Addlers for a long while. Now he's retired, seemingly wearing an eyepatch and a gun blade for unknown reasons. Nowadays, he can wander and wonder if mercenary is the proper title for what he does.

& The boy with the stone

A story of a boy who wished to be a hero yet failed.

I remember when my father was the keeper of this eye. Now, I watch its embers burn, but the secret is? I hate it more than I hate myself. Let's see what we can do against you?"Kirshbia Angelo, embracing the life of the dragoon. There were always those tales of heroes and grand adventures, those who could make the world itself brand new through their actions and heroics on the battlefield to bring forth the change that the world genuinely needed.
Raised by a small family, his ties to Ishgard revolve at its border. Growing up within the Ishgardian border shaped by the remote cold within the alliance side, the young man was trained in the lance and expected to be a beacon of hope for his friends. One that he took in great stride until the Empire had come to an invasion so cruel yet so dark that prompted his father to go to war and for the young boy to become a man.
That he very much did. He joined the battle group making its way to a forward operating post. One suspects a traitor in the border towns' ranks as his group came under heavy ambush. As brave as the men had been? The boy had learned what being outnumbered and unprepared would warrant as one after one. The Imperials showed no mercy in cutting down his comrades in front of him, his father himself among the last handful. They managed a brief break in the wave, yet they could see more approaching in the distance. The young man cried out to his father for what to do. Yet, the corpse could not reply in kind. He would give a shrieking order of shields to be raised. Which caused Kirshbia to look around in fear before his father stumbled forward, an arrow sticking out his back. As he fell to the ground, a small stone slipped out of his coat properly and tumbled beside his corpse. The boy's arms wrap around his father as he pleads, and the footsteps of men draw even closer. His eyes closed, but the boy had heard something, a question as simple as it was.
"Do you desire power?"
The boy did not speak. He grabbed the stone and was bathed in blue light. Looking down at his father, that angry pressure of rage came from his chest. His other hand moved to grab a lance. The air around him shuddered as he stepped forward from his shield wall. His aura danced with the azure blue that matched the stone he had picked up. Unfortunately, the boy never was meant for a hero's fate but for vengeance? He could do that. It's hard to say if he was the sole survivor or managed to save the day after that night. The man is known because he was seen moving from battlefield to battlefield, collecting coins in exchange for battles fought. Seeming to favor the Empire's conflict, he contracted with the twin Alder's order, eventually assigning his squadron. On occasion, one can find away from the war effort proper with sightings of drinking within a local tavern or guarding a caravan.

& A Promise Broken

It had been many years since the boy left Coerthas, the journey taking many twists and turns, feeding his anger; he would rise toward new heights, finding purchase with the free companies. The bond with the eye he attained only grew stronger, yet within the quieter moments the Elezen now had, he would question why his father kept it contained. As time passed, he began to understand his partner, realizing his anger was a product of his isolation. It was a dangerous and fragile force, but deep down, he knew that the true monster was not the eye but the man who carried it. His past actions weighed heavily on his conscience, and even after the liberation of Ishgard and the Scions' recovery, he knew he would be the one to write the final chapter. When the call to arms came, he left behind those he once held dear and joined the march, the final counter-offensive that would bring the fight to the Garleans. It was the end of the war and the end of the monsters, a glimmer of hope amidst a sea of tragedy. The final respite would be to stand before the spirits of those he deemed worthy and claim what he had long desired. The evening before the battle, the Elezen was a jovial force for the change. Good food and drink distracted the mixture of formations of alliance forces. For the first time in a very long time, the Dragoon had brought himself to smile as the celebrations before the dawn of battle arrived. Finally, a tiny reprieve to take the weight off his shoulders of what he would hope was his last chance: the final goodbyes to those who walked the same road and perhaps even a tiny desire for them to find the peace he never could see.As the Dragoon stood before the snow-covered lands of Garlean, he felt a slight twinge of connection as the empire likely also knew how it was like to be raised so cold, one connection that disgusted him towards his core. This connection was a twisted thread of shared experience. His azure eyes shifted around the battlefield, where he was in his father's armor, and he questioned why those who walked the path of the dragoon liked the spikes of the garments. The alliance forces were waiting for the final go, and the sounds of chatter were in the distance."You think the Scions are goin' do most the werk?" Called out a rowdy voice."Naw, who do you think is going to kill Mer?" Another voice would speak, causing Elezen's ears to perk. Turning his head on the pair, he recognized them from Gridana. They were not in his unit, but they were at least entertaining to watch as they joined the Alders. His lips would part as if to reply before the horn had sounded. With his fingers on his spear, the Elezen would offer a roaring challenge as the allied forces descended onto the battle line. He felt the conscience within the eye stir as the voice asked him once more but in a tone far more gentle than he had first heard so many years ago."Do you desire power?"As the battle raged and the Scions took towards the front lines, the Elezen would not deny the Dragon he had carried with him. But even so, as the Scions moved to break through, the lines were engaged in a violent dance that would color the snow with red mist and the hopes and dreams of both sides coming toward an end.Yet, as the battle swung in the alliance's favor, the fighting only grew more fierce. The Imperials fought with an unhuman zenlike fervor, as their magitek equipment would rain fire onto the friendly lines even as the main push with the heroes of the era would make its ground. The constant ebbs and flows of war only made the final outcome more uncertain. The Dragoon fought towards a small friendly encampment, a safe haven established for healers of the forces and a place to bring those injured in need of only minor healing. The Elezen considered himself lucky that only a burn of fatigue danced through his muscles, something to rectify quickly.Sadly though, the hands of fate did deem fit to grace the man with much respite as the hammering of magitek would pepper their location, his head tilting outwards as he saw countless approaching, still making their way through a break in the line. His voice would bolster for a rally, but as he would look, he saw nothing but broken and tired people. At this moment, a small smile crossed his face as he turned to face the incoming wave.
"Don't you have anyone else you wanna be?" he asked the wounded group, waving them almost casually, not befitting the situation and not the type to linger long for those who would desire to argue if he stepped forward. Finally, he was a means to an end; when he left his home, he only wanted to be a hero, and he failed and failed and failed again, but as he drew close, reaching towards the eye, he kept safe.
"Cadmus..If I can do one thing right, let it be this." The elezen's aura began to snake around him in that gentle blue hue as he drew himself closer, moving at increased speeds, his communion with his eye growing before he would take off in a leap."No matter the price you wish for me to pay for this. I will pay it." The Elezen swore, taking in a position for a typical dive, yet for some reason, he felt a bit of sadness from the eye of his longest companion, arguably even a friend he had on his own journey before he could feel it shatter against his chest. In the briefest moments, before he struck the ground once, his aura flared, not blue this time but a crimson red hue, his body undergoing pressure and tension he never felt before while fighting as he landed a thunderous explosion aether discharged, striking down many dead though as if guided by something yet unseen he twisted with inhuman speed and grace that never possessed in his previous battles one after one bringing down the attacking wave by himself his lance work more akin to dance amongst the frozen landscape. In the aftermath of the battle, he would be paused now, wondering what would happen next as friendly forces moved up to his position and found the Elezen surrounded by both Imperial bodies and their weapons of war, his eyes tilting around and settling onto some clear ice and what saw was two crimson hued eyes staring back at him his lips would part to say something before his body gave out and he fell to the ground.
As the darkness flooded in, he heard one more time from the voice he had spoken to so long ago,
"My greatest wish was simply to keep you safe." And then sweet oblivion awaited. At least, that's what he thought. Within two weeks, he would wake up in the field hospital set up at the forward base of the Imperial invasion. At first, trying to open his eyes to the world more to see himself in the mirror, one of his eyes still the crimson hue. Shortly after, he would feel a pounding pain in his skull from looking through it, one that would cause him to keep it shut.Yet, as he looked over towards the wrecked empire before him, he would scream his frustrations to the world. He was not supposed to be alive still for all of his sins, and he wanted to leave this world doing something right.Yet, in this situation, he only wonders what the hell he does now?

Barring the conclusion of the war with Garlemald, the mercenary seemed to of opted out of the Grand Companies' service. Could you be someone trying to recruit him back in? Or even perhaps a former comrade that had to deal with the man on a professional level? He did enjoy his work though post war he really isn't looking to renew.

    basic etiquette        *

My usual rules of engagement is simply be chill I work a lot and I try to be respectful towards other peoples time. Be straight up with me and I will return the favor in kind. I don't usually have a desire to write smut so if you're looking for an ERP partner you may be better off looking elsewhere. I have a preference of paragraph to multi-paragraph however I will match the flow of the scene.

    preferred themes        *

My themes are fairly straight forward!
Action
Adventure
Slice of life.
Darker themes are welcome Kirsh's primary trope is failure hero.

    things to avoid        *

I'm pretty straight forward. Just try to be respectful of my time and don't engage me for random ERP requests and we'll usually be pretty well off. As a rule of thumb though, I don't participate in the FF14 club scene.

    about me        *

I'm Kirsh i've been roleplaying for over 15+ years and I've enjoyed using creative writing as my medium for awhile. I've often been caught as the poor eternal GM out of my friendgroup and I enjoy finding new venues to let loose some creative outlets.

    Mercenary

Fellow mercenary? Rival? Friend? Outright hatred? Hit me up, and I am pretty flexible with mostly anything. Kirshbia's been in the game for a while now, and if you think your character would have known or heard of him, I would be happy to follow up with the details. The most activity he saw was in open combat during the liberation of Ala Mhigan, to which the dark-clad mercenary spent many days on the front line trying to give the Scions and other heroes a chance to get some breathing room from the empire's counter-attack

    Former Dragoon

Kirshbia was once affiliated with the Dragoon order. Though he doesn't seem to wield a lance anymore, he was known throughout most of the war. Could you be someone trying to keep tabs on him or find out why? He also seems to be missing a large blue gem that was of interest.

    Drinking buddy

Kirshbia has been to many taverns. Have you met him? Does he owe you a drink? Or do you OWE him a drink? Either or collection is something that'll happen

    Ishgardian

You may have known of Kirshbia's father. He was a respectable man within the city. His uncle is a drunk. After the war, he seemed to have set up a small base of operations in the area and often can be seen working on tracing his Elezen lineage. He is of mixed blood afterall.

    Order of the Twin Adder

Barring the conclusion of the war with Garlemald, the mercenary seemed to of opted out of the Grand Companies' service. Could you be someone trying to recruit him back in? Or even perhaps a former comrade that had to deal with the man on a professional level? He did enjoy his work though post war he really isn't looking to renew.

    Always looking for work.

Are you a client? Do you need an object protected? Do YOU need protection? Kirsh is there to help. He isn't what he would call a cheap date, but his skills are varied. The premium pricing kicks in more if he's doing something he'll genuinely dislike. Nonetheless, he is for hire and doesn't mind getting his hands dirty.

    Zahra Showri

I have walked many paths. Known many faces, yet for this one I had meant during the war itself, and when we had met again, she had reminded me of what I had sorely forgotten.

Aljan is a solid rock. Capable, smart, and a lot kinder of an individual then myself. To put it bluntly I don't offer gratitude often but he is deserving. I don't think I've ever met his partner either.
